The founders of Stop the Steal are Ali Alexander and Amy Kremer. They started Stop the Steal on two different web locations. Kremer, a former Tea Party operative and founder of the pro-Trump group, Women for America First, started the Facebook group #StoptheSteal which gained 350,000 members in 24 hours and then was banned for advocating violence.
Ali Alexander, a former Tea Party political strategist, social media personality and convicted felon (originally named “Ali Akbar”), started the registered Stop the Steal corporation. He also started the StopTheSteal.us website which was used to organize the Stop the Steal rallies that began after Joe Biden’s November 3, 2020, victory and took place in most state capitols, including Nevada’s, every weekend between the election and the attack on the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021. According to Media Matters, prior to the January 6 attack, Alexander told followers “‘to punch the left in the nose’, ‘do brave acts’, ‘fight’, and ‘have vengeance if we have traitors’.”
